Lundy

Mr. Lundy has served as Catawba County Manager since March of 1979 and has been a Catawba County employee since 1972. He has been active in many local organizations, such as the Chamber of Commerce, Habitat for Humanity, and the United Way. He has also been very active in state, national and international professional associations.

Tom is past president of the International City and County Management Association (ICMA), the National Association of County Administrators, and the North Carolina City and County Management Association.  He has been recognized at the state and national level, including receiving ICMA’s Local Government Award; the Citizen Involvement Program Award; and the Ayers-Hauser Award, a prestigious state award given infrequently for a lifetime of innovative service to local government in North Carolina by the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners.  He was the first appointed official to ever receive the award.  In October 2006, he was elected as a Fellow in the National Academy of Public Administrators.  Tom also serves as a Director on the ICMA-Retirement Corporation Board.

Tom has participated in a number of international activities, including two Ireland study tours and a study tour to Japan. He also participated in a manager exchange program in Australia and led Catawba County in an ICMA CityLinks program with Tirana, Albania.

Tom earned his undergraduate degree from Emory & Henry College in Emory, Virginia, double majoring in political science and business and economics, and holds a masters degree in public administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
